When I got married I asked for vouchers to buy some Chasseur cast iron saucepans (as seen in the middle photo). They are pink, the same shade as this porridge and I love them! In the first few years of our marriage we shopped at the cheapest supermarkets, but cooking in my beautiful pink saucepans made my soul feel happy, no matter what was in them.
I got my love for beautiful kitchenware from my mum. She was one of 7 and growing up in a poor family meant that there were days that she had to eat dinner from a saucepan lid. When she started a family of her own she began collecting beautiful plates and bowls to serve her food in. Not having them as a child made them even more beautiful to her. She has a great appreciation for all things shabby chic.
This porridge is beautiful and tasty and will make your house smell like summer. Who wouldn’t want to wake up to a bowl of summer for breakfast? The only rule to this recipe is that you must serve it in a beautiful bowl!
