Clean Eating Slow Cooker Bolognese Recipe

This recipe has been a long time coming! Back when I lived at The Kitchen Shed I made quite a few attempts to come up with a decent slow cooker bolognese recipe and every one was a complete fail.

Since our lives just seem to be getting busier and busier with various after school clubs and activities and trying to fit meals around my evening Zumba classes, I decided to get my slow cooker our this week and test out some new recipe ideas that would hopefully become helpful go to recipes on our busiest of days and finally we have found slow cooker bolognese success!

This recipe is really very simple, it takes a little preparation in the beginning but then you can just leave the slow cooker to do its magic. What I love most about a slow cooker meal is that it can be sat there, hot ready to serve, so it’s one less thing to think about when you are in a hurry to get dinner on the table.

This recipe is really very simple, it takes a little preparation in the beginning but then you can just leave the slow cooker to do its magic.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Place the oil into a sauce pan and add the turkey mince. Cook over a medium high heat for 5 minutes or until the turkey is browned.
  2. Remove the turkey from the saucepan with a slotted spoon (or drain away any excess liquid) and add the cooked mince to the slow cooker.
  3. Add the rest of the ingredients into the slow cooker and stir to combine. It will look pretty dry.
  4. Place the lid on the slow cooker and turn the heat to HIGH for 4 hours or LOW for 6-8 hours.
  5. Once you are ready to serve, remove the lid and give the bolognese a stir. Season again to taste if needed and serve over your favourite wholegrain spaghetti.
