My favourite sandwiches of all time would be;
- Egg Mayo
- Tuna Mayo
- Prawn Mayo
Sadly for me, these sandwiches are not clean eating foods. What a bummer! Mayonnaise has very little nutritional benefit to the body. It is just empty calories and high in fat and salt.
I have found that I can still get my egg mayo sandwich fix by swapping the mayonnaise with houmous. It works and packs a much better nutritional punch for my lunchtime meal, plus it just tastes sooooo good!
Clean Eating Egg Salad is a delicious alternative to egg mayonnaise. You can still add in your cress, or upgrade it for some watercress or rocket leaves. Yummy!! Try it in a wholemeal pitta bread or flat bread, or even with a jacket potato and salad.

Clean Eating Egg Salad is a delicious alternative to egg mayonnaise. You can still add in your cress, or upgrade it for some watercress or rocket leaves. Yummy!! Try it in a wholemeal pitta bread or flat bread, or even with a jacket potato and salad.
Ingredients
- 2 Hard Boiled Eggs
- 1 Tablespoon Houmous
- 1 pinch Ground Black Pepper
- 1 handful Watercress or Rocket Leaves to serve
Instructions
- Remove one or both egg yolks if desired.
- Mash or chop up the eggs.
- Stir in the houmous and black pepper.
- Serve with some watercress or rocket leaves in a wholemeal pitta bread, flat bread, sandwich or jacket potato.
I absolutely loved this idea, don’t know why I didn’t think of it. I often use houmous as a spread in sandwiches since starting clean eating but hadn’t considered mixing it in and wow am I glad I tried it. A taste sensation!
