The lovely people from Rude Health graced The Kitchen Shed with a beautiful box filled with delicious wholesome breakfast, snacks and drinks. You can imagine how excited I was to get stuck in and try them out! Below is the low down, but before you find out what I thought about the products, here is why I (a clean eating food blogger) am such a fan of Rude Health;
“Eat right, stay brilliant. At Rude Health we only use the kind of ingredients you’d have in your own kitchen – nothing artificial, nothing refined. We source our ingredients from fields, orchards and vines – not from larboratories. We think food should be made out of food – not thickeners, preservatives, colourings, flavourings and other additives. The proof is in the taste, try it for yourself. When you’ve got food this good inside you, you’ll be up for anything.” – Rude Health
Rude Health Coconut Drink
This is a pretty tasty milk alternative made from coconut butter and rice. Its naturally sweet so can be enjoyed by itself or tastes great with your cereal, hot drinks or as a milk replacement in baking. You can taste a hint of rice in it so if you enjoy rice milk (as I do) you will definitely enjoy this coconut drink. It’s gluten free and organic and I liked it so much that I decided to make a delicious smoothie out of it. You can check out that recipe here Clean Eating Piña Colada Smoothie.
Ingredients: Natural Spring Water, Organic Rice, Organic Coconut Butter (2%), Sea Salt
Rude Health Puffed Oats
This is a box of fun! I LOVE puffed oats, they are great to eat as a cereal or as a snack or to add to baked goods. The best thing about them is that they contain no added sugar, (no added anything in fact) just wholegrain oats and nothing else. Their nutty toasted flavour and puffy texture remind me of sugar puffs but these are infinitely better for you. You can sweeten them up if you wanted to with a little honey or sliced banana and sweet berries. Either way, its going to be delicious! Check out my Instagram page to see how my 5 year old has enjoyed them every morning this week
Ingredients: Whole-Grain Oats (100%)
Rude Health Muesli Nutty Crunch
I am a huge muesli fan. It works wonders on my digestive system, plus on lazy days it is far easier to pour a bowl of muesli than it is to cook a portion of porridge. My favourite kind of muesli is toasted muesli so this nutty crunch fits the bill perfectly as it has texture to it. Although this is sweetened with some unrefined and natural sugars it doesn’t taste overly sweet and I would probably throw a handful of raisins to my bowl since I am a muesli raisin lover. If you think you don’t like muesli, give this nutty crunch a go – It is fabulous!
Ingredients: Oat Flakes, Toasted Spelt Flakes, Roasted Almonds, Roasted Hazelnuts, Whole Wheat Flour, Sunflower Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Honey, Unrefined Cane Juice Sugar, Sunflower Oil, Date Syrup, Puffed 7 Whole Grains, (Wheat, Rice, Barley, Spelt, Rye, Oat, Buckwheat), Coconut.
Rude Health Muesli The Ultimate
As you now know, my perfect muesli would have crunch to it plus raisins, so this muesli most definitely ticks the raisin box for me. It is a much softer muesli but it is bursting with fruit, nuts and seeds which break up the softness nicely. Each mouthful provides juicy bursts of berries and orchard fruits plus complex toasty nutty crunchiness. This Muesli contains 23 wholesome organic ingredients, no refined sugars and nothing artificial or genetically modified. I love the cheeky hint of cinnamon too!
Ingredients: Oats, Rye Flakes, Raisins, Sultanas, Barley Flakes, Apricots, Almonds, Brazil Nuts, Dates, Golden Linseeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Sunflower Seeds, Cranberries, Quinoa Flakes, Apple, Buckwheat Flakes, Goji Berries, Hazelnuts, Puffed Rice, Blueberries, Poppy Seeds, Linseeds, Cinnamon.
Rude Health Granola The Ultimate
Now this was my husbands favourite and he has been choosing it over his crunchy nut cornflakes ever since it arrived. We are already Rude Health granola fans, often purchasing their honey almond granola for a special treat. The Ultimate Granola contains no fruit, no refined sugars and no added salt. It is sweetened naturally with a little honey and date syrup and you will be lucky to find another brand of granola any cleaner than that! It is organic, multi grain and high fibre. This is perfect sprinkled over some natural yoghurt or simply served with you favourite freezing cold milk. I’ll be lucky to get any more of this with my husband around.
Ingredients: Oats, Sunflower Oil, Spelt Flakes, Honey, Barley Flakes, Date Syrup, Roasted Almonds, Sunflower Seeds, Puffed Amaranth, Roasted Hazelnuts.
Rude Health Drinking Oats
Now this is one clever box of magic. I cannot tell you how impressed I am with these drinking oats. I don’t know who came up with this concept but it is pure genius. These oats literally dissolve in liquid leaving no lumps and no strong oaty flavour. I added them to a glass of apple and ginger juice and apart from turning the juice slightly cloudy, I wasn’t overly aware that it had oats in it. Rude Health Drinking Oats are perfect for a pre & post work out boost or as part of a super quick breakfast or snack. An amazing way to get your oats in. I shall be buying these for sure!
Ingredients: Whole-Grain Oats (100%)
Rude Health The Beetroot
If you are a fan of Nakd bars then you must try these out! They are softer and sweeter with a delicious fudgy texture. What I loved about it most was how my Husband and 5 year old (who refuse to eat beetroot) ate it like it was their favourite chocolate bar. We all loved it and look forward to trying it again. Plus its bright pink, who wouldn’t want to eat something that was bright pink?
Ingredients: Dates (69%), Almonds (20%), Ground Beetroot (7%), Sunflower Seeds (2%), Water (2%), Sunflower Oil (0.1%).
Rude Health Porridge 5 Grain 5 Seed
If you have been following this blog for a while, you might have noticed how much I love my porridge and even more importantly, how much I love adding seeds or nuts to my porridge. This wholesome box of wheat free, salt free and sugar free goodness is the perfect porridge for me. No faffing needed just cook and enjoy.
Ingredients: Porridge Oats, Jumbo Oats, Oatmeal, Barley Flakes, Rye Flakes, Golden Linseeds, Linseeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Sundflower Seeds, Poppy Seeds, Buckwheat Flakes, Quinoa Flakes.
Rude Health Rye Oaty
My mum is going to love these! We both like dry, crunchy foods like oat cakes, rice cakes and corn chips and these rye oaty biscuits are so delicious, thick and crunchy I just know she is going to love them. If I were to describe them, I’d say they tasted like a savoury hobnob. It would have been ideal if they didn’t contain the unrefined cane juice sugar (as my mum is diabetic) but it is a very small amount I’m sure she will enjoy them all the more when her blood sugar is a bit low 😉
Ingredients: Scottish Oatmeal, Rye Flour, Water, Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Unrefined Cane Juice Sugar, Sea Salt, Bicarbonate or Soda.
So, there you have it. My Rude Health Round Up. I am very grateful to Rude Health for providing me with these lovely products to sample and review. I feel privileged to have Rude Health feature here on The Kitchen Shed and hope to share their message of natural, unprocessed foods with everyone who visits here.
